To Our Volunteers we say…
The 23rd Upper Cumberland Quilt Festival was a tremendous success. As you know, the theme of this year’s Festival was “Tennessee Treasures”. The willingness of people in Tennessee to volunteer is one of Tennessee’s real ‘treasures’.

The Board of the Upper Cumberland Quilt Festival wishes to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for your time and talent to assist in conducting this year’s Festival. We salute you as a Tennessee Treasure!

The Board of the Upper Cumberland Quilt Festival wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation to literally hundreds of people for their help and support of the 23rd Quilt Festival.

Thanks to your efforts and support we are proud to announce that we experienced a 14% increase in participation; a 27% increase in number of quilts entered in this year’s Festival; 50% increase in the number of sponsor exhibits at the Festival; a 30% increase in the number of vendors/merchants exhibiting their products, and, a 200% increase in sponsor support.

The Herald-Citizen printed 13 feature articles for us; and 1400 WHUB gave us almost two hours of radio time to promote the festival. Over 100 volunteers gave of their time and talents during the Festival and throughout the year valued at $32,000.

Mary Frances Brown’s quilts were exhibited by the Cookeville Crazy Quilters; Fred and Cindy Bellis showed a portion of their quilt collection; sixty three individuals entered 159 quilts in the competition classes; Master’s Healthcare displayed 84 quilts; and, Algood Schools filled both the libraries with almost 100 quilts - - a total of 420 quilts on display.

Additionally, the Upper Cumberland Tourism Bureau promoted our Festival throughout the year and all Welcome Centers in Tennessee distributed our brochures. The City of Algood put up our banners and signs and provided security during the Festival. Trinity Assembly, Burton’s Chapel United Methodist Church and Algood United Methodist Church offered their facilities and staff to help us in the conduct of the Festival.
